PHILADELPHIA - Flyers centre Daniel Briere scored in his first game back in the lineup against Tampa Bay on Saturday night, only two weeks after abdominal surgery.
Briere had surgery on Oct. 25 to fix a torn abdominal muscle and doctors expected him to miss three to four weeks.
Briere centred the first line with Mike Knuble and Simon Gagne against the Lightning and wasted little time making an impact. He knocked in a rebound late in the first period for the power-play goal that gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead.
Briere has four goals and four assists this season. The 31-year-old forward had 31 goals and 41 assists last season during his first year with Philadelphia.
