PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Philadelphia Flyers announced the hiring of two new assistant coaches and named a new head coach for their AHL affiliate on Wednesday.
Craig Berube returns to the Philadelphia Phantoms as head coach after spending most of last season with the Flyers as an assistant. He coached the Phantoms for the first six games last season, compiling a 3-2-1 record, before being promoted to the Flyers on Oct. 23. Kjell Samuelsson, who replaced Berube as the Phantoms head coach early last season, will remain with the team as an associate coach.
The Flyers also named Joe Mullen and Jack McIlhargey assistant coaches for the NHL club. McIlhargey played five of his eight professional seasons with the Flyers before spending over 20 years with the Vancouver Canucks in various capacities. Mullen played 17 seasons in the NHL and was an assistant with the Phantoms last season.
The team also named Neil Little goaltending coach for the Phantoms on Wednesday.
