Peterson makes 46 saves to lead Saginaw Spirit over the Peterborough Petes 9-1 @NHLdotcom

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - Saginaw goalie Jake Peterson stopped 46 of the 47 shots he faced as the Spirit beat the Peterborough Petes 9-1 in Ontario Hockey League action at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on Saturday.

Despite being outshot 47-40, Saginaw (4-8-0) dominated the score-sheet from start to finish as they led 2-0 after the first period and 4-0 after the second.

John McFarland was their top scorer with two goals and an assist while seven other Spirit players added singles. Vladim Khlopotov, Dalton Young, Jamie Oleksiak, Anthony Camara, Ryan O'Connor, Brandon Saad and Sam Povorozniouk were the other scorers.

Joey West was the lone goal scorer for Peterborough (6-4-2).

The victory was Saginaw's third in a row while the Petes lost for the third straight time.
