Petersen scores overtime winner as Sea Dogs even QMJHL final with Wildcats @NHL

MONCTON, N.B. - Nicholas Petersen scored 12:43 into overtime as the Saint John Sea Dogs evened the best-of-seven Quebec Major Junior Hockey League final 2-2 with a 3-2 win over the Moncton Wildcats on Friday night.

Yann Sauve, with a goal and an assist, and Michael Kirkpatrick also scored for Saint John. Petersen also added an assist.

Marek Hrivik had a goal and an assist for Moncton, while Cole MacMillan also scored. Ted Stephens had two assists.

Marco Cousineau made 42 saves for the Sea Dogs in the victory. Nicola Riopel stopped 31 shots at the other end.

Sauve opened the scoring just 47 seconds into the first before Kirkpatrick stretched the Saint John lead to 2-0 at 16:12 of the second with a short-handed goal.

Hrivik got that one back for Moncton just over a minute later to make it 2-1 after two.

MacMillan tied things 2:40 into the third as Moncton outshot Saint John 18-7 in the final period but couldn't beat Cousineau for the winner.

Game 5 goes Saturday in Saint John, N.B.
