If at first you don't succeed, stop, show your frustration, and then try again.

Hey, it worked for Ottawa Senators forward Mike Hoffman.

In a preseason game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday, Hoffman scored a unique power play goal.

Originally, Hoffman had a pretty nice look from the right side but misfired high on a mostly open net.

As the puck slid around the boards and back out to the blue line, Hoffman, clearly upset with himself for not burying one, turned around and lightly tossed his stick up in the air to himself in disbelief.

But there wasn't much time to get angry, as not even five seconds later a rebound caromed out to a surprised Hoffman, who made good on his second chance.

So remember that, kids. Persistance pays off, even in the preseason.
