Pension fund denies Leafs for sale @NHL

TORONTO (AP) - The Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan says they are not in negotiations to sell their stake in the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Raptors.

Jim Leech, President and CEO of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, says Friday that the pension fund has never had a firm offer to sell the investment.

The Toronto Star, citing anonymous source, reported this week that Rogers Communications, Canada's largest wireless carrier and one of the country's biggest cable companies, is negotiating to buy the 66 percent majority stake in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment that Teachers' owns. Maple Leaf Sports owns the hockey and basketball franchises.

The stake also includes the Air Canada Centre, the Toronto FC of Major League Soccer, a minor league hockey team, and the Leafs and Raptors TV stations.
