The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed right wing Tom Kostopoulos to a one-year, two-way contract.
The deal is worth $600,000 at the NHL level. Kostopoulos will be placed on waivers at noon ET on Tuesday, and if he clears will be assigned to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre of the American Hockey League.
The 34-year-old was taken by the Penguins in the seventh round of the 1999 NHL Draft and broke in with the team during the 2001-02 season. He has also played for the Los Angeles Kings, Montreal Canadiens, Carolina Hurricanes and Calgary Flames, and has 60 goals, 156 points and 705 penalty minutes in 615 games.
