Stanley Cup champions often eat from the trophy, but Matt Murray decided to let his dog, Beckham, enjoy a treat from the Cup instead.
Beckham, a Newfoundland who is a big part of the Pittsburgh Penguins goalie's family, ate from the trophy as part of Murray's day with the Stanley Cup in Thunder Bay, Ontario, on Saturday.
Beckham's snack came after Murray's extensive day with the Cup meeting with fans at a ceremony at Fort William Gardens, a hockey rink in Thunder Bay.
Murray, who helped the Penguins win the Cup in 2016, was 10-7 with a 1.70 goals-against average, a .937 save percentage and three shutouts in the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs. He had back-to-back shutouts in Games 5 and 6 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Nashville Predators, including 27 saves in a 2-0 win to clinch the series at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville in Game 6.
