SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Centre Jeff Taffe of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins was named the American Hockey League's player of the week Monday.
Taffe had two goals and seven assists as the Penguins won all three games they played last week.
Taffe began the week by playing two games with the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins. Following the Christmas break, Taffe returned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and had a club record-tying four assists in a 4-0 win at Philadelphia on Friday night.
He scored twice, including the 100th goal of his AHL career, and added two assists on Saturday in a 5-4 victory over Bridgeport. Taffe added an assist in a 6-3 win over Binghamton on Sunday.
Taffe is third in AHL scoring with 38 points (16 goals, 22 assists) in 28 games this season.
