Pearce scores game-winner late in third as Ice calm Hurricanes 2-1 @NHLdotcom

CRANBROOK, B.C. - Ice forward Elgin Pearce scored the game-winner late in the third period as Kootenay beat the Lethbridge Hurricanes 2-1 in Western Hockey League action on Friday night.

Ice opened the scoring under two minutes into the game on a power play as Joey Leach?s point shot hit the goal post and Drew Czerwonka was near the crease to put it into the net.

Lethbridge tied the game in the second period on a goal mouth scramble as Graham Hood banged it in.

The Ice scored on the power play late in the third when Pearce scored with a wrist shot that beat the screened goalie on the glove side.

Despite the loss, Damien Ketlo was outstanding in net with 39 saves on 41 shots.

Nathan Lieuwen stopped 16 shots at the other end.
