On Sunday, Sharks captain Joe Pavelski hit a rather impressive milestone: he scored his 700th career point, all with the San Jose Sharks.

Brent Burns began the play by shooting the puck from the point, hitting New Jersey goaltender Kinkaid. Joe Pavelski, positioned at the front of the net, picked up the rebound and put the puck into the net for the first goal of the game.

SJS@NJD: Pavelski buries rebound for 700th point

Pavelski is the 28th American in NHL history to hit the 700 point mark. Pavelski is also only the fifth player to be drafted 200th or later to reach that mark, joining Dave Taylor, Pavol Demitra, Henrik Zetterberg, and Steve Sullivan.
Joe Pavelski also joins Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton as the only players to score 700 points with the Sharks.

Originally drafted by the Sharks in the 7th round (205th overall) of the 2003 draft, Pavelski initially played at the University of Wisconsin before joining the Sharks during the 2006-07 season. Since then, he's established himself as one of the league's premiere goal-scorers while still maintaining a top defensive reputation; he's earned a Selke vote for best defensive forward every season since 2007-08. In 2015-16, he was named captain of the Sharks.
