Forward Pavel Buchnevich agreed to an entry-level contract with the New York Rangers on Friday.
A 6-foot-1, 176-pound left wing, Buchnevich, 21, was selected by the Rangers in the third round (No. 75) in the 2013 NHL Draft. He is considered their top forward prospect and could start next season in the NHL.
He had 16 goals and 37 points in 58 games with Severstal and SKA St. Petersburg in the Kontinental Hockey League this season. The 6-foot-1, 176-pound left wing, has spent the past four seasons playing against older competition in the KHL and has 37 goals and 87 points in 158 games.
