Patrik Laine is once again an EA Sports NHL cover athlete.
Laine and Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson will grace the cover of EA Sports NHL 20 in their home countries, Finland and Sweden.
Laine will appear on the video-game cover in his home country for the second straight year. The restricted free agent forward, who the Winnipeg Jets selected with the No. 2 pick of the 2016 NHL Draft, is a video-game enthusiast who plays in his uniform as part of his pregame ritual. He has been an avid NHL gamer since his youth and may play a lot more now.
"I've been a passionate fan of the EA Sports NHL games since childhood," Laine said in a tweet posted by EA Sports. "The season is physically hard, and playing NHL20 on a console with friends is a really good way to keep mental balance."
Pettersson, the reigning Calder Trophy winner as NHL Rookie of the Year, has also been playing the video game for years and tweeted his excitement.
"It's a tremendous thrill for me to appear on the cover of NHL 20," Pettersson said in a tweet posted by EA Sports. "Playing in the NHL has been a dream come true, and it feels great to follow up my rookie season with this huge honor."
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews appears on the cover for the game's North American edition, which is available in beta now and will be available worldwide Sept. 13.
