Past two Cup champs among Dillman Award finalists @NHLdotcom

The Los Angeles Kings are Stanley Cup champions, and the organization's media relations staff was recognized Monday for its efforts this season as well.

Los Angeles is one of three finalists from the Western Conference for the Dick Dillman Award, given annually to the top franchise in media relations in both conferences as voted by the Professional Hockey Writers Association.

The Kings are joined by the Nashville Predators and San Jose Sharks as finalists. The Boston Bruins, Carolina Hurricanes and Philadelphia Flyers are the finalists in the Eastern Conference.

Boston won the award last season, along with the Chicago Blackhawks. The award is named for the late Dick Dillman, who was a longtime media relations guru for the Minnesota North Stars. His daughter, Lisa Dillman, covers the Kings for the Los Angeles Times and chronicled their run to the Cup this past season.

Members of the PHWA consider factors including fairness, cooperation, efficiency, accuracy and presentation of media notes, quality of media guide and willingness to help facilitate interviews when voting.

The winners will be announced this coming weekend at the NHL Draft in Pittsburgh.
