PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Troy Passingham stopped 37 shots and the Windsor Spitfires scored twice in the first period to top the Plymouth Whalers 2-1 Wednesday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Richard Panik and Scott Timmins scored for the Spitfires (22-3-0-3).

Plymouth's lone goal came from Josh Brittain 50 seconds after Timmins' goal.

Newly acquired forward Robbie Czarnik, playing on a line with Brittain and Tyler Seguin, assisted on the goal for his first point in his first OHL game after leaving the University of Michigan on Monday.

Czarnik's rights had belonged to the Oshawa Generals, but a trade of draft picks Monday landed Czarnik in Plymouth.

Matt Hackett made 43 saves for the Whalers (14-12-0-0).
