Parnham scores two as Oshawa beats the Peterborough Petes 5-3 @NHLdotcom

OSHAWA, Ont. - Brett Parnham scored twice to lead the Oshawa Generals to a 5-3 win over the Peterborough Petes on Sunday in their first home game without John Tavares.

Playing before a crowd of 5,580 at the General Motors Centre without the face of their franchise for the past three and a half years, the Generals were led by rookies, who accounted for the rest of the goals.

Christian Thomas, who was part of the big trade that sent Tavares to London, opened the scoring on a power play seven minutes into the second period.

John Padulo and Nick Esposto had a goal and an assist each for the Generals (19-17-1-4), who led 4-2 after two periods.

Zack Kassian scored twice for the Petes (18-24-0-2). Tony Romano had the other goal, plus two assists.

Another Oshawa rookie, goalie Kevin Bailie, made 28 saves for his first win since Oct. 11.

Jason Missiaen stopped 27 shots in goal for the Petes.
