Parnham scores a pair as Oshawa routs Niagara 6-1 in OHL playoff action

OSHAWA, Ont. - Brett Parnham scored twice as the Oshawa Generals cruised to a 6-1 win over the Niagara IceDogs Thursday in the opener of their best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinal.

Game 2 of the series goes Saturday at St. Catharines, Ont. John Tavares, Brett MacLean, Dale Mitchell and Patrick Asselin also had goals for the Generals. Michal Neuvirth made 40 saves in the victory.

Sebastian Dahm, brilliant during Niagara's first round sweep of Mississauga, was beaten six times on 40 Oshawa shots, while Alex Pietrangelo accounted for the only IceDogs goal.

The Generals went 3-for-6 on the power play, while Niagara converted once in eight chances.

The game was played in front of 4,426 at Oshawa's General Motors Centre.
