Paquette's goal in overtime completes Remparts' 3-2 rally over Cape Breton @NHL

The Quebec Remparts have had to work a little harder for their victories lately - but they don't seem to mind.

Danick Paquette scored in overtime to give Quebec its fourth straight win as the Remparts overcame a two-goal deficit to beat the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 3-2 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Sunday afternoon.

The Remparts' previous win was also in extra time, as they beat the P.E.I. Rocket 4-3 Oct. 30. They are 8-1-1 in their last ten games.

Despite the recent hot streak, Quebec remains in third place in the QMJHL standings. First-place Saint John is on an eight-game winning streak, while second-place Drummondville has won its last three.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Chicoutimi 4 Baie-Comeau 3; Drummondville 10 Acadie-Bathurst 3; Gatineau 4 Rouyn-Noranda 2; Saint John 6 Rimouski 1; Victoriaville 3 Shawinigan 2; and Montreal at Moncton, ppd.

At Sydney, N.S., Martin Lefebvre forced overtime for the Quebec Remparts when he scored on the power play to tie the game.

Dominic Savoie also scored for Quebec (14-3-3), while Peter Delmas made 27 saves.

Luke Adam and Brad Cuzner scored for the Screaming Eagles (11-6-4), while Olivier Roy stopped 29 shots.


Sagueneens 4 Drakkar 3

At Baie-Comeau, Que., Alexandre Lavoie had the power-play winner and an assist as Chicoutimi edged the Drakkar.

Nicolas Deschamps added a goal and an assist for the Sagueneens (8-7-4), while Mathieu Leduc and Michael Stinziani also scored.

Gabriel Bourque and Marc-Olivier Mimar both scored and added an assist for Baie-Comeau (5-12-2), while Mike Villeneuve had a single.


Voltigeurs 10 Titan 3

At Bathurst, N.B., Sean Couturier's hat trick led Drummondville over the Titan as the Voltigeurs won their third straight.

Ondrej Palat scored twice and added a helper for the Voltigeurs (15-2-1), while Alexandre Comtois had a goal and three assists. Olivier Hotte added a goal and an assist while Benoit Levesque, Philippe Bergeron, Andrew Randazzo had singles.

Eric Faille had a short-handed goal and an assist for Acadie-Bathurst (7-11-3), while Jeremie Blain and Patrick Jones both added singles.


Olympiques 4 Huskies 2

At Gatineau, Que., Adam Janosik's first-period power-play goal stood as the winner for the as the Olympiques topped Rouyn-Noranda.

Alexandre Quesnel and Joshua Domingues also scored in the first period for Gatineau (13-5-0), while Alexandre Leduc added a goal in the second.

Christophe Losier and Jerome Raymond countered for the Huskies (11-9-3).


Sea Dogs 6 Oceanic 1

At Rimouski, Que., Nicholas Petersen and Simon Despres had two goals each as Saint John rolled over the Oceanic for its eighth straight win.

Mike Hoffman had a goal and three assists for the Sea Dogs (16-4-1), and Steven Anthony chipped in with a goal and an assist.

Patrick Delisle-Houde was the only goal-scorer for Rimouski (8-8-3).


Tigres 3 Cataractes 2 (OT)

At Victoriaville, Que., Tomas Kubalik had two goals, including the overtime winner, to lead the Tigres past Shawinigan.

Travis McIsaac also scored for Victoriaville (12-7-1), which won its second in a row.

Maxime Legault and Pierrick Martel had goals for the Cataractes (9-8-3).


Junior at Wildcats, ppd.

At Moncton, N.B., sickness and injuries forced the Wildcats to postpone their game against Montreal.

Moncton had only 11 players who were healthy enough to suit up.

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League called the game about 90 minutes before the scheduled 4 p.m. start. No makeup date has been announced.
