Panthers reassign Hawryluk to junior team

The Florida Panthers on Thursday reassigned forward Jayce Hawryluk to the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League.

Hawryluk, a second-round pick (No. 32) in the 2014 NHL Draft, received 11:36 of ice time and had one shot in the Panthers' 4-3 shootout loss to the Dallas Stars on Wednesday.

Hawryluk had 24 goals and 64 points in 59 regular-season games for Brandon last season. He had five goals and 12 points in eight playoff games.

The Panthers now have 49 players on their training camp roster.

The Toronto Maple Leafs reduced their training camp roster Thursday by assigning 13 players to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.

Forwards David Broll, Connor Brown, Jamie Devane, Greg McKegg, Carson McMillan, Brad Ross and Brady Vail, defensemen Eric Knodel, Andrew MacWilliam, Brendan Mikkelson and Tom Nilsson, and goaltenders Christopher Gibson and Calvin Heeter were all assigned to the AHL.

The Maple Leafs now have 41 players in training camp.

The Vancouver Canucks trimmed their training camp roster by eight players Thursday.

Forwards Mike Zalewski, Dane Fox, Alexandre Grenier, Kellan Lain and Alexandre Mallet, and defenseman Jeremie Blain, were assigned to the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League.

Defenseman Spencer Humphries and center Curtis Valk were released and will attend Utica's training camp.

The Boston Bruins reduced their training camp roster Thursday by assigning 10 players to Providence of the American Hockey League.

Andrew Ammon, Steve Eminger, Rob Flick, Cory Kane, Adam Morrison, Frankie Simonelli, Ethan Werek, Ben Youds, and Mike Young will all report to Providence. Defenseman Tommy Cross will also go to the AHL provided he clears waivers.

Eminger, who signed a one-year contract with Providence in September, has played in 488 NHL games for the Washington Capitals, Philadelphia Flyers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, Anaheim Ducks and the New York Rangers.

The Arizona Coyotes sent eight players from training camp to Portland of the American Hockey League on Thursday.

Brendan Burke, Greg Carey, Justin Hache, Mark Louis, James Melindy, Patrick McNeill, Evan Oberg, Eric Selleck were sent to Portland.

Marek Langhamer was returned to Medicine Hat of the Western Hockey League.

There are 45 players remaining in Coyotes camp.

The Edmonton Oilers on Thursday assigned goaltender Ty Rimmer to Oklahoma City of the American Hockey League.

Rimmer appeared in three games for the Barons last season, going 1-0-1 with a 2.65 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage.
