Panthers' Jagr ties Francis for fourth all-time in points

Jaromir Jagr of the Florida Panthers tied Ron Francis for fourth on the NHL all-time points list with a goal and assist Thursday against the Carolina Hurricanes at BB&T Center.

Jagr assisted on a goal by Brandon Pirri 5:01 into the second period, then scored his 16th goal of the season at 13:01, taking a pass from Aleksander Barkov and beating Carolina goaltender Anton Khudobin to give the Panthers a 3-0 lead in a 6-1 win.

The two points gave Jagr 1,798 (721 goals, 1,077 assists), matching Francis, who ended his Hall of Fame career with 549 goals and 1,249 assists. They were teammates with the Pittsburgh Penguins from 1991-98.

Gordie Howe is third on the list with 1,850 points, behind Mark Messier (1,887) and Wayne Gretzky (2,857).

Jagr has 16 goals and 27 assists in 73 games this season with the New Jersey Devils and Panthers.
