Palmieri scores a pair of goals to propel Erie to 5-1 win over Niagara @NHLdotcom

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Nick Palmieri scored a pair of power-play goals to lead the Erie Otters to a 5-1 victory over the Niagara IceDogs in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday.

Palmieri opened the scoring at 7:17 of the first period and added the game winner midway through the second as the Otters (5-7-1-0) won for the third time in four games.

Justin Hodgman, Mike Cazzola and Shawn Szydlowski added singles in the Erie victory, while Sean Jones added two assists.

Mathew Sisca had the lone goal for the IceDogs (3-7-1-3), who have lost four in a row.

Jaroslav Janus made 32 saves to earn the win for the Otters.

John Cullen stopped 32 shots in defeat for Niagara.
