Alex Ovechkin showed off some skills in another sport this week.

The Washington Capitals captain took part in a charity basketball game in Russia, with his mother, Tatyana Ovechkina, a two-time Olympic gold-medal winner (1976, 1980), as coach of his team.

Wearing his familiar No. 8, Ovechkin's highlights included several 3-pointers (shot left-handed) and an alley-oop pass.

His team won 76-71, according to TSN, against a team that included former NBA player Andrei Kirilenko. The game raised money for children with cerebal palsy.
