MONCKS CORNER, S.C. - Christian Ouellet and Guillaume Asselin each scored twice as the Chicoutimi Sagueneens silenced the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 6-0 in Quebec Major Junior League Hockey action on Wednesday.
Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Lukas Sedlak also scored for Chicoutimi, which scored three times in the first and second periods before laying off in the third.
Sagueneens goaltender Christopher Gibson made 21 saves for the shutout.
At the other end William Racicot allowed five goals on 16 shots for Cape Breton before being replaced by Philippe Trudeau, who gave up one goal on 20 shots.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL, Moncton beat Drummondville 4-1.
At Sydney, N.S., Sedlak opened the scoring with an early goal at 2:55 in the first for Chicoutimi (21-14-8).
Cape Breton (16-25-1) got into penalty trouble with four coming in the first period, and Ouellet and Asselin made them pay with a power-play goal each.
Ouellet added his second at 6:17, and not to be outdone, Asselin scored his second less than a minute later.
Pageau capped the scoring in the final minute of the period.
Wildcats 4, Voltigeurs 1
At Moncton, N.B., Brandon Thibeau made 30 saves to lead the Wildcats past Drummondville.
Patrick Delisle-Houde, Ryan Penny, Alex Saulnier and Ross Johnston scored for Moncton (21-19-4), which scored three times in the second period.
Alexandre Veronneau made 20 saves in net for the Voltigeurs (17-22-5).
