OTT@WPG: Wheeler sets up Dubois for 1-0 lead in 1st

WINNIPEG -- Pierre-Luc Dubois scored two goals, and the Winnipeg Jets hung on for a 4-3 win against the Ottawa Senators at Bell MTS Place on Monday.

Nikolaj Ehlers and Andrew Copp each had two assists for the Jets (23-13-3), who held a 4-1 lead after the second period. Connor Hellebuyck made 20 saves.
"We had the right mentality offensively and I thought we didn't spend much time in our zone in the first two [periods], and even in the third for a good chunk," Dubois said. "It's never going to be easy and you've got to deal with adversity because stuff like that is going to happen late as the season goes on into the playoffs."

Ryan Dzingel and Connor Brown each had a goal and an assist for the Senators (13-22-4), who have lost three of four. Anton Forsberg made 42 saves.
"We turned way too many pucks over, we weren't desperate enough. We battled back, too little too late," Ottawa coach D.J. Smith said. "That's a desperate team over there and we weren't ready when the game started. Maybe to be expected after an emotional game, but we just had too many guys not going tonight."
Dubois gave Winnipeg a 1-0 lead at 2:10 of the first period when he took a pass from Blake Wheeler and scored on a snap shot from the right circle.
"He's a great passer, so he makes it easy out there sometimes," Dubois said. " … He sees the ice so well that I just have to get into that open space and it's more often than not on my blade. He just makes it really easy for me out there."
Adam Lowry scored with a wrist shot from the left circle to make it 2-0 at 4:19 of the second, but Dzingel cut it 2-1 near the right goal post 29 seconds later at 4:48.
Dubois one-timed Copp's feed for a power-play goal at 8:38 of the second to give Winnipeg a 3-1 lead.
Copp has scored 11 points (seven goals, four assists) in his past nine games.
"Nothing is ever given to Andrew, and he's developed his game," Jets coach Paul Maurice said. "[He's] really worked hard on becoming an offensive player and he's always had that defensive gift. … He's worked on his hands, he's worked on making plays."

OTT@WPG: Dubois fires one-timer for 3-1 lead in 2nd

Kyle Connor's attempted pass went off the stick of Senators forward Chris Tierney and trickled past Forsberg to make it 4-1 at 16:12.
Winnipeg outshot Ottawa 22-6 in the second period.
"They got an early goal there that was my mistake in the second period there, and then they kind of pushed us back all that period," Forsberg said. "They played fast right off the bat. They were flying out there and we weren't really ready at the beginning."
But the Senators made a push in the third and cut it to 4-2 when Josh Norris scored on the power play with a wrist shot from the right circle at 10:25.
Brown extended his goal streak to four games with a one-timer of Artem Anisimov's backhand pass at 16:51 for the 4-3 final.
"We didn't stay on the pedal as much as we needed to maybe a little bit," Copp said. "But it's a lesson to learn for sure as we go along here. We need to learn how to end games and kind of get it to the buzzer. We were able to still do that, which is good, but we need to not let teams back in the game as we go along here."
