Ottawa has lost seven of past nine; Byfuglien out for Winnipeg

The Game

The Winnipeg Jets will be without defensemen Dustin Byfuglien and Joe Morrow when they host the Ottawa Senators at Bell MTS Place on Saturday.

Byfuglien and Morrow each sustained a lower-body injury in a 4-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday. 

Goalie Laurent Brossoit will start for Winnipeg, which is 2-3-1 in its past six games and has scored two goals or fewer in four of them. 

Goalie Anders Nilsson will start for the Senators, who have lost two straight and seven of their past nine games (2-7-0).

 

Players to watch

Senators forward Matt Duchene has six points (five goals, one assist) in his past five games and 17 points (11 goals and six assists) in his past 15. games 

Jets forward Mark Scheifele has five points (three goals, two assists) in his past three games and 19 points (eight goals, 11 assists) in his past 18.

Status report

Coach Paul Maurice said it's likely Byfuglien will return at Colorado on Wednesday. Morrow will be out 2-3 weeks...... Kulikov will return to the lineup after missing three games with an upper-body injury. The Jets recalled Niku from Manitoba of the American Hockey League on Friday, who will play. ... Borowiecki will be out at least a week. ... Anderson could return against the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday.
