SENATORS (5-1-4) at DEVILS (6-2-0)

7 p.m. ET; MSG+, RDS2, TSN5, NHL.TV

The Game

Right wing Kyle Palmieri will be out of the lineup with a lower-body injury when the New Jersey Devils host the Ottawa Senators at Prudential Center on Friday.

Palmieri, who was injured during practice on Sunday, remains day-to-day and will be re-evaluated by the Devils medical staff Saturday.

Ottawa forward Filip Chlapik made his NHL debut and Max McCormick made his season debut in a 5-4 win against the Philadelphia Flyers at Canadian Tire Centre on Thursday. Chlapik had one assist, and McCormick had two hits and one blocked shot.

Players to watch

Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson has eight points, all assists, and 15 shots on goal in five games since returning to the lineup against the Vancouver Canucks on Oct. 17. Karlsson missed the first five games of the season during his recovery from surgery to repair torn tendons in his left foot on June 14.

Devils center Nico Hischier, the No. 1 pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, has six points (two goals, four assists) and six shots on goal in his past four games.

They said it

"We're [being] tested [due to injuries] and the players are responding with character. I think everyone is contributing in one way or another." -- Senators coach Guy Boucher

"In this league there are always great players to go up against and having a chance to face Erik Karlsson again will be fun for me. I look up to those guys, and to now go face-to-face against them is pretty cool. I'm always pumped to have that chance." -- Devils center Nico Hischier
