Senators

The Ottawa Senators trophy given to the hardest-working player at their summer development camp has been renamed the Jonathan Pitre Award.
Pitre, the Senators fan known as "Butterfly Boy," died at 17 on April 4 from recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa, a rare genetic mutation that causes the skin to blister and fall off at the slightest touch. He formed a bond with many Senators players when he was named an honorary scout by Ottawa in 2014.

Pitre raised more than $200,000 for research of the disease; those afflicted with it are often referred to as "butterfly children" because of their fragility.
"He spoke at our development camp [in 2017]," general manager Pierre Dorion said Thursday, "and … it was probably the most heartfelt, honest meeting that we've ever had, and I think that it just makes sense."
