Ottawa Senators defenseman Fredrik Claesson will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Thursday for an illegal check to the head of Boston Bruins forward Noel Acciari on Wednesday.

At 15:01 of the first period, Claesson hit Acciari and was assessed a match penalty. He also received a major penalty for a fight against the Bruins' Tim Schaller and a game misconduct.

The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: illegal check to the head. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.

The Bruins won the game 5-1.
