Karlsson's wedding involves less pizza than his proposal

Senators defenseman marries Melinda Currey after couple was engaged over pepperoni @NHLdotcom

Erik Karlsson and Melinda Currey were married this past weekend in a lovely ceremony that didn't feature nearly as much pizza as expected.

You may remember that the Ottawa Senators defenseman proposed by putting the ring in a pepperoni pie. It was a moment that went over quite well with Currey, a self-proclaimed pizza enthusiast.

The couple was married Saturday at the National Gallery of Canada.

More than a few NHL players, many of them current and former teammates of Karlsson, were in attendance. Vancouver Canucks goalie Jacob Markstrom shared a video of the happy couple entering the reception.

Senators legend Daniel Alfredsson served as the best man. Country music singer Dallas Smith performed at the reception.

And to think, it all started with a pizza.
