Oshawa Generals forward John Tavares named OHL player of the week @NHLdotcom

TORONTO - Oshawa Generals forward John Tavares was named Ontario Hockey League player of the week Monday.

Tavares had nine points (4-5) in three games last week.

It was the second straight weekly honour for the 18-year-old from Oakville, Ont., who was recently ranked the top OHL skater by NHL Central Scouting in its preliminary draft rankings.

Guelph Storm goaltender Thomas McCollum, Plymouth Whalers goalie Matt Hackett and Mike Lomas of the Owen Sound Attack were also considered.
