SURREY, B.C. - It will be an all-Ontario final at the Canadian under-18 women's hockey tournament.
Defending champion Ontario Red advanced to the final with a 4-3 win over Manitoba on Saturday, while Ontario Blue moved on with a 1-0 shootout win over Quebec, a finalist from last year. The two Ontario teams will face off for gold on Sunday, while Quebec and Manitoba meet for bronze.
Ontario Red built up a 4-0 lead on goals form Jamie Lee Rattray, Shannon Doyle, Kelly Babstock and Sally Butler.
Manitoba made a game of it with three unanswered goals in the third period. Meghan Dufault scored twice while Meagan Vestby had Manitoba's other goal.
In the other semifinal, Kristen Richards scored the only goal in the shootout to give Ontario Blue a narrow win. Danielle Butters made 34 saves in regulation and overtime for Blue while Cloe Desjardins stopped 27 shots for Quebec.
Also Saturday, Alberta beat Atlantic 4-2 in the fifth-place game while Saskatchewan doubled British Columbia 4-2 in the seventh-place game.
