Ont. premier, N.Y. governor bet on outcome of Senators-Sabres NHL playoffs @NHL

TORONTO (CP) - There's more than just a shot at the Stanley Cup on the line in the NHL playoff series between the Ottawa Senators and the Buffalo Sabres.

Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty and New York Governor Eliot Spitzer have placed a friendly wager on the outcome of the best-of-seven series that starts Thursday.

McGuinty says he is betting a month's supply of Tim Horton's coffee against Spitzer's wager of a supply of chicken wings from the famous Anchor Bar in Buffalo.

McGuinty predicted the Senators will win in six games and invited members of the legislature to join him for some wings after Ottawa takes the series.

But Liberal House Leader Jim Bradley - a longtime Sabres fan - made it clear that not all Ontario government members expect a Senators victory.

Bradley notes many of his constituents in the Niagara area are big Sabres fans, and says McGuinty is "dreaming in Technicolor" with his prediction of an Ottawa win.
