Road Trip Denver International Airport tarmac Air Canada snow 2018 January 21

The Colorado Avalanche is on a three-game trip before the NHL All-Star Break over the weekend. The Avs makes their first journey to Canada with a back-to-back set against the Original Six Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens before finishing the trek in St. Louis against the division-rival Blues.

It was a snowy Sunday in the Mile High City after several inches of snow fell overnight, making the Colorado Avalanche's travel to Toronto, Ontario, a little more treacherous than usual.

Colorado didn't practice on Sunday morning after defeating the New York Rangers 3-1 on Saturday afternoon, instead choosing to have an earlier flight out east.
The Avs' charter flight was scheduled to depart Denver at 10:30 a.m., but the winter storm caused some delays. The plane arrived late and needed to finish getting ready for its trip to Toronto before the club could leave.
All the Avalanche players, coaches and staff and Altitude TV media arrived at the airport by 9:45 a.m. and were immediately screened through security. It was then a waiting game in the lobby for another 10 minutes or so as last-minute preparations were made to the aircraft.
When it was time to finally board, everyone had to trudge through a little snow and slush outside to get on the plane. Once onboard, they grabbed a light snack and settled in for the nearly two-and-a-half-hour trip.
After being deiced, the plane was able to take off and was airborne at 10:57 a.m.
This is the Avs' first visit to Canada this season, and for most of the players, a trip back to their home country. This trip to Toronto is a rarity, however, as Colorado doesn't have any players on its roster that are from the province of Ontario.
That will be different on Tuesday when the Avalanche plays at the Montreal Canadiens, as it has five players from the province of Quebec.

Road Trip Toronto Canada bus customs travel 2018 January 21

After a two-hour and 36-minute flight, the Avalanche landed in Toronto at 3:33 p.m. ET and immediately went through customs at the airport. The team then loaded up onto two charter buses and made the trip to its downtown Toronto hotel.
The Avs arrived at their hotel around 5 p.m. due to traffic. Once inside, the players dropped off their luggage and then dispersed throughout the city to grab some dinner and watch some of the NFL Playoffs.
Monday's game at the Toronto Maple Leafs begins a stretch of six consecutive road contests--split in half by the NHL All-Star Break--with the first three coming in a span of four days.
