LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - Zdenek Okal's goal early in the second period ended up being the game-winner as the Medicine Hat Tigers hung on to steal a 2-1 victory from the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Friday night in the Western Hockey League.

Mark Isherwood opened the scoring for the Tigers (15-7-2-3) midway through the first period.

Eric Mestery scored in the third period for the Hurricanes (11-12-0-1), but it was all they could manage against Medicine Hat netminder Ryan Holfeld, who stopped 40 shots, including all 28 he faced over the first two periods.

Lethbridge goalie Juha Metsola made 21 saves in a losing effort.
