Kailer Yamamoto signed a two-year, $6.2 million contract with the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday. It has an average annual value of $3.1 million.

The 23-year-old forward was a restricted free agent and avoided a salary arbitration hearing scheduled for Aug. 7.
Yamamoto had NHL career highs in goals (20), assists (21) and points (41) in 81 regular-season games for the Oilers last season. He also had seven points (two goals, five assists) in 14 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Selected by Edmonton in the first round (No. 22) of the 2017 NHL Draft, Yamamoto has 93 points (40 goals, 53 assists) in 186 regular-season games, and eight points (two goals, six assists) in 22 playoff games.
