Oilers sign D Kurtis Foster to 2-year contract @NHL

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) -The Oilers appear to have a replacement for Sheldon Souray, signing free agent defenseman Kurtis Foster to a two-year, $3.6-million deal.

The 28-year-old Foster had eight goals and 34 assists in 71 games for the Tampa Bay Lightning last season. He will likely find a spot among the top four defensemen for the rebuilding Oilers.

Edmonton is still exploring options to trade Souray and his hefty contract.
