Oilers place goaltender Scrivens on waivers

The Edmonton Oilers placed goaltender Ben Scrivens on waivers Sunday. If he clears he'll be sent to their American Hockey League affiliate in Bakersfield, Calf.

Scrivens was 15-26-11 with a 3.16 goals-against average and .890 save percentage in 57 games last season, and is 42-56-17 with a 2.90 GAA and .905 save percentage in 129 NHL games. He was acquired from the Los Angeles Kings for a third-round pick in the 2014 NHL Draft on Jan. 15, 2014.

Cam Talbot and Anders Nilsson will begin the season as Oilers goaltenders.

The Oilers also announced defenseman Nikita Nikitin cleared waivers and was assigned to Bakersfield.
