Oilers offer tryout to forward Westgarth @NHLdotcom

Forward Kevin Westgarth has been invited to the Edmonton Oilers' training camp on a tryout basis, the team announced Tuesday.

The 6-foot-4, 234-pound wing split last season between the Carolina Hurricanes and Calgary Flames and had four goals and seven points in 48 games.

Westgarth, a Princeton University product, was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Los Angeles Kings in 2007. He was a member of the team during its run to the Stanley Cup in 2012, although he did not dress for any Stanley Cup Playoff games.

In 169 games with the Kings, Hurricanes and Flames, Westgarth has seven goals, 16 points and 266 penalty minutes. He has no goals and two assists in six career postseason games.
