by Curtis Zupke /

LOS ANGELES -- Edmonton Oilers center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was scratched for the game against the Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center on Saturday because of an illness.

Edmonton had Leon Draisaitl take Nugent-Hopkins' place, with left wing Taylor Hall and right wing Teddy Purcell, to start the game.

Nugent-Hopkins has six goals and eight assists in 17 games. He leads Oilers forwards in ice time and ranked second among forwards in the NHL (20:38) last season.
