The Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday placed goaltender Viktor Fasth on injured reserve with a groin injury.
Fasth was injured in the first period of the Oilers' 6-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday. He stopped eight of 11 shots before being removed with 4:26 left in the first period.
The Oilers recalled goaltender Richard Bachman from Oklahoma City of the American Hockey League to take his place. The 27-year-old went 0-2-1 with a 3.02 goals-against average and .916 save percentage. In his only AHL game this season, Bachman allowed three goals on 30 shots in an overtime loss to San Antonio.
The Oilers also recalled forward Steven Pinizzotto from the AHL and sent down forward Bogdan Yakimov.
