Oilers, Cogliano agree to deal

The Edmonton Oilers on Friday agreed to terms with center Andrew Cogliano, a restricted free agent, on a one-year contract. No financial terms were disclosed.

Cogliano, 23, had 10 goals, 28 points and 31 penalty minutes last season while appearing in all 82 games for the Oilers. The Oilers' first-round pick (No. 25) in the 2005 Entry Draft has never missed a game in three NHL seasons, scoring 46 goals and adding 65 assists for 111 points, along with 73 PIM, in 246 regular-season games.

The 5-foot-10, 185-pounder from Toronto had 18 goals and 45 points in 82 games in 2007-08, his rookie season, when he also set an NHL record by scoring overtime goals in three consecutive games.

In 2008-09, Cogliano had 10 goals and 38 points. He also was named to the 2009 NHL YoungStars Game, where he won the fastest skater competition.
