Oilers 3, Panthers 2, SO @NHLdotcom

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) -Marc Pouliot scored the deciding goal in a shootout and the Edmonton Oilers beat the Florida Panthers 3-2 in exhibition play Thursday night.

Mathieu Garon made 30 saves to help Edmonton improve to 1-1-2 and avenge a 3-2 shootout loss to Florida (2-1-0) on Wednesday night in Edmonton.

"It was a mental health win," Edmonton coach Craig MacTavish said. "I thought it was going to be easier than that, but it is always good to win.

Sam Gagner also had a goal for Edmonton in the shootout. Tyler Spurgeon and Robert Nilsson scored in regulation for the Oilers.

Radek Dvorak and Anthony Stewart scored regulation goals for the Panthers, and Michael Frolik had a goal in the shootout.
