OHL Roundup: Mitch Marner keeps producing, Knights beat Generals 5-2

LONDON, Ont. - London's Mitch Marner has found another gear.

The Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick extended his point streak to 11 games with a goal and two assists as the Knights downed the visiting Oshawa Generals 5-2 on Thursday in Ontario Hockey League action.

After starting the junior season with seven points in his first six games, Marner has exploded for nine goals and 28 points during his recent run.

Christian Dvorak also scored once and set up two more for the Knights (14-3-2) while J.J. Piccinich, Owen MacDonald and Aaron Berisha added the others.

Sullivan Sparkes and Sam Harding supplied the offence for the Generals (9-11-3), who have dropped five games in a row.

London's Tyler Parsons made 16 saves for the win as Jeremy Brodeur kicked out 23-of-27 shots for Oshawa.

The Knights went 1 for 6 on the power play while the Generals failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.

Oshawa defenceman Jacob Graves was ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct in the first period.

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. ? Vanya Lodnia scored 3:27 into overtime and Devin Williams made 31 saves as Erie slipped past Niagara for its fifth win in a row.

Dylan Strome, Taylor Raddysh and Kyle Maksimovich had a goal and an assist each for the Otters (18-2-1).

Mikkel Aagaard, Jordan Maletta and Brendan Perlni scored for the IceDogs (10-8-2), who got a 20-save outing from Brent Moran.

FRONTENACS 4 BATTALION 3

NORTH BAY, Ont. ??? Spencer Watson's empty-net goal turned out to be the winner as Kingston held on to defeat the Battalion.

Ryan Verbeek, Juho Lammikko and Jared Steege also scored for the Frontenacs (13-6-2) while Lucas Perressini made 19 saves for the win.

David Sherman and Mike Amadio made it a one-goal game for North Bay (9-9-2) after Watson made it 4-1 at 18:28 of the third. Cam Dineen added a first-period goal. Jame Kment made 25 saves in defeat.

Kingston's Conor McGlynn was handed a game misconduct for checking to the head at 10:21 of the third period.

SPITFIRES 3 STORM 2

WINDSOR, Ont. ??? Christian Fischer scored twice, including the eventual winner in the second period, as the Spitfires edged Guelph for their fifth straight victory.

Logan Brown also scored for Windsor (15-4-3) while Garret Hughson made 23 saves in net.

James McEwen and Garrett McFadden found the back of the net for the Storm (2-17-1), who are on a four-game slide. Bradley Van Schubert stopped 27-of-30 shots in defeat.

COLTS 4 WOLVES 1

BARRIE, Ont. ??? Kevin Labanc had a pair of goals as the Colts handed Sudbury its eighth loss in a row.

Josh Carrick and Julius Nattinen also scored for Barrie (13-7-0) while Mackenzie Blackwood stopped 30 shots for the win.

Chad Heffernen kept the struggling Wolves (5-16-1) from being blanked. Zack Bowman turned aside 26-of-29 shots in a losing cause.

Carrick was handed a game misconduct at 14:06 of the second period for checking to the head.
