OHL Roundup: Ice Dogs edge McDavid-less Otters for fourth-straight win @NHLdotcom

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Erie Otters missed the scoring touch of Connor McDavid on Friday night.

With the Ontario Hockey League leading scorer out of the lineup with a broken hand, the Otters fell to the Niagara IceDogs 2-1.

McDavid broke his right hand in a fight against the Mississauga Steelheads on Tuesday and will be out for the next five to six weeks.

Zach Wilkie and Carter Verhaeghe scored second-period goals for the IceDogs (6-13-0), who won their fourth straight. Josh Ho-Sang had an assist in his first game with Niagara after being traded to the IceDogs earlier in the day.

Alex DeBrincat replied with his 21st of the season on the power play for Erie (16-2-1).

Brandon Hope was solid in net, making 45 saves for the win. Devin Williams turned aside 20 shots in the loss.

Niagara failed to score on six power-play opportunities while the Otters were 1 for 3.



KINGSTON, Ont. ? Lucas Peressini made 34 saves as the Frontenacs shut out Guelph.

Robert Polesello struck twice for Kingston (9-7-2), while Ryan Kujawinski, Juho Lammikko and Corey Pawley also found the back of the net.

Justin Nichols stopped 25-of-30 shots in 46:07 for the Storm (9-8-1). Bradley Van Schubert stopped three shots in 13:52 of relief.



NORTH BAY, Ont. ??? Mathew Santos had a hat trick as the Battalion exploded for a five-goal third period over Peterborough.

Zach Poirier struck twice for North Bay (10-3-4), with Kyle Wood and Brenden Miller also chipping in.

Anthony Stefano and Michael Clarke found the back of the net for the Petes (5-9-3), who lost their third straight.



SARNIA, Ont. ??? Cole Cassels struck twice as Oshawa downed the Sting.

Stephen Desrocher had the Generals' (15-2-1) other goal to give them their fourth-straight win.

Troy Lajeunesse and Nikita Korostelev scored for Sarnia (6-10-2).



SAGINAW, Mich. ??? Ryan Foss and Sam Povorozniouk scored in the shootout as Windsor completed the comeback against the Spirit.

Jamie Lewis and Cristiano DiGiacinto had third period power-play goals for the Spitfires (7-10-1).

Luke Cairns and Nick Moutrey opened the scoring for Saginaw (9-8-2).



KITCHENER, Ont. ??? Justin Bailey had a hat trick and added an assist in the Rangers' victory over Plymouth.

Gustaf Franzen and Brandon Robinson rounded out the Kitchener (10-3-5) offence.

Sonny Milano scored twice for the Whalers (8-10-1) with Bryce Yetman also chipping in.



LONDON, Ont. ??? Montreal Canadiens prospect Michael McCarron scored a hat trick for the Knights against Owen Sound.

Matt Rupert, Christian Dvorak and Mitchell Marner rounded out the London (13-7-0) attack.

Kyle Platzer struck twice for the Attack (9-5-5) while Jonah Gadjovich and Jaden Lindo also chipped in.



MISSISSAUGA, Ont. ??? Michael McLeod had a goal and an assist as the Steelheads beat Sudbury.

Nathan Bastian, Josh Burnside, Everett Clark and Lucas Venuto also scored for Mississauga (7-9-1), who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Nicholas Baptiste and Kyle Capobianco found the back of the net for the Wolves (3-16-0).

Travis Konecny, Travis Barron and Evan de Haan all had goals for Ottawa (8-8-1).

Vancouver Canucks prospect Jordan Subban had the only goal for the Bulls (12-6-2).
