OHL Roundup: Hope makes 46 saves, MacDermid scores in OT as Attack edge Frontenacs @NHL

OWEN SOUND, Ont. - Brandon Hope stopped 46 shots and Kurtis MacDermid scored with 27 seconds remaining in overtime as the Owen Sound Attack edged the visiting Kingston Frontenacs 5-4 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Zach Nastasiuk had two goals and two assists for the Attack (6-5-1) while Gemel Smith also scored twice. Smith now has 13 goals in 12 games, which ties him with Erie's Dane Fox for the OHL lead.

Henri Ikonen led the Frontenacs (8-1-2) offensively with two goals and four points while Spencer Watson had a goal and two assists. Mikko Vainonen added a single goal.

Kingston's Matt Mahalak turned away 32-of-37 shots in defeat.

Owen Sound went 3 for 5 on the power play as Kingston scored once on five chances with the man advantage.

ERIE, Pa. ? Dane Fox scored twice and Connor Brown had four assists as the Otters extended their win streak to seven games by defeating Ottawa.

Travis Dermott had a goal and two assists for Erie (9-2-1) while Adam Pelech, Connor McDavid and Andre Burakovsky each scored once.

Sam Studnicka supplied the scoring for the 67's (5-7-0).

Erie's Oscar Dansk made 14 saves for the win as Jacob Blair stopped six goals on 21 shots in defeat.



ST CATHARINES, Ont. ??? Brent Moran stopped 35 shots, including all 15 he faced in the first period, as Niagara jumped ahead and hung on to defeat Belleville.

Alexander Protapovich and Anthony DiFruscia gave the IceDogs (54-3) a 2-0 first period lead and Aaron Haydon and Brendan Perlini added goals in the third.

Garrett Huey scored the lone goal for the Bulls (2-8-2).

Belleville's Charlie Graham turned aside 31-of-34 shots in defeat.



SUDBURY, Ont. ??? Jeff Corbett scored 33 seconds into overtime to lift the Wolves over Mississauga.

Nicholas Baptiste and Connor Crisp each scored twice for Sudbury (4-3-4) while Dominik Kubalik had the other.

Dylan Smoskowitz led the Steelheads (5-6-1) offensively with two goals and an assist. Andrew Goldberg, Bobby MacIntyre and Josh Burnside added single goals.

Franky Palazzese made 37 saves for the Wolves. Mississauga's Spencer Martin stopped 44 shots.



PETERBOROUGH, Ont. ??? Sergey Tolchinsky had two goals and five points as Sault Ste. Marie defeated the Petes.

Michael Bunting and Jorgen Karterud had a goal and two assists apiece for the Greyhounds (8-1-1) while Andrew Fritsch scored twice. Blake Speers, Tyler Gaudet and Mac Clutsam added single goals and Jared McCann tacked on four assists.

Jonatan Tanus, Brandon Devlin, Anthony Stefano, Eric Cornell, Matt McCartney, Greg Betzhold and Stephen Pierog scored for Peterborough (6-4-1) and Tanus added two assists for a three-point night.

Sault Ste. Marie's Brandon Halverson made 34 saves for the win. Andrew D'Agostini allowed one goal on five shots in 27 minutes of action to pick up the loss. D'Agostini replaced Michael Giugovaz, who stopped 15-of-22 shots for the Petes.



WINDSOR, Ont. ??? Eric Diodati's third-period goal was the difference as the Spitfires edged London.

Ben Johnson and Cristiano DiGiacinto each had a goal and an assist for Windsor (5-6-0) while Josh Ho-Sang scored once.

Josh Anderson had a pair of goals for the Knights (7-3-1) and Brady Austin had the other.

Alex Fotinos made 28 saves for the Spitfires while London's Anthony Stolarz stopped 15-of-19 shots.



SAGINAW, Ont. ????????? Sarnia goaltender Taylor Dupuis stopped 49-of-52 shots en route to defeating the Spirit.

Anthony DeAngelo and Bryan Moore each had a goal and two assists for the Sting (4-7-1) while Craig Duininck, Tyler Hore and Nickolas Latta scored a goal apiece.

Kristoff Kontos scored twice for Saginaw (5-6-2) and Dylan Sadowy had the other.

Spirit netminder Jake Paterson made 27 saves in defeat.



BARRIE, Ont. ????????? Andreas Athanasiou scored once and set up two others as the Colts doubled up Plymouth.

Brendan Lemieux, Kevin Labanc and Aaron Ekblad also scored for Barrie (4-6-1).

Carter Sandlak scored both goals for the Whalers (6-7-0).

Colts' goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood made 26 saves for the win while Plymouth's Alex Nedeljkovic turned away 41 shots in a losing cause.
