OHL Roundup: Giftopoulos extends Spitfires' win streak to seven games @NHLdotcom

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Remy Giftopoulos scored in regulation and the shootout winner as the Windsor Spitfires edged the host Plymouth Whalers 4-3 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Josh Ho-Sang and Cristiano DiGiacinto also scored for the Spitfires (11-6-0), who extended their win streak to seven games.

Mitch Jones and Victor Crus Rydberg had a goal and an assist apiece for the Whalers (8-12-1) while Mathieu Henderson added a single goal.

Windsor's Dalel Kuchmey made 22 saves for the win as Plymouth's Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 31 shots in a losing cause.

The Spitfires went 2 for 6 on the power play while the Whalers scored twice on three chances with the man advantage.



ERIE, Pa. ? Andre Burakovsky scored three goals, all in the second period, as the Otters crushed Sarnia.

Dane Fox scored twice for Erie (15-3-1) while Travis Dermott and Darren Raddysh had the others. Connor McDavid chipped in with three assists and OHL-leading scorer Connor Brown had two.

Alexandre Renaud scored the lone goal for the Sting (5-13-1), who have dropped three games in a row.

Devin Williams made 18 saves for the Otters as Sarnia's Taylor Dupuis stopped 23-of-30 shots in a losing cause.



ST. CATHARINES, Ont. ??? Michael Dal Colle scored three times, including the winner, as Oshawa beat Niagara.

Aidan Wallace and Bradley Latour also scored for the Generals (15-4-1), which went 3 for 5 on the power play.

Anthony DiFruscia had a goal and an assist for the IceDogs (6-10-3) while Eric Ming and Blake Siebenaler scored the others.

Oshawa's Daniel Altshuler made 31 saves for the win as Niagara's Brent Moran turned away 39-of-44 shots in defeat.



SUDBURY, Ont. ??? Brandon Hope turned back 37 shots as Owen Sound downed the Wolves to halt a three-game slide.

Gemel Smith had a goal and an assist for the Attack (9-9-2) and Gilbert Gabor, Jaden Lindo and Zach Nastasiuk each scored once.

Mathew Campagna scored the lone goal for Sudbury (8-6-6) while Franky Palazzese made 42 saves in defeat.

Owen Sound went 0 or 6 on the power play while the Wolves scored once on six opportunities.



BELLEVILLE, Ont. ??? Nikita Serebryakov made 37 saves as Saginaw beat the Bulls.

Nick Moutrey and Justin Kea each had a goal and an assist for the Spirit (10-7-2) and Andrey Alexeev, Mitchell Stephens and Cody Payne scored the others.

Brendan Gaunce, Chad Heffernan and Remi Elie scored for Belleville (4-12-3).

Goaltender Charlie Graham kept the Bulls in it by stopping 47 shots.



SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. ??? Blake Speers scored the winner in the seventh round of the shootout to give the Greyhounds their fourth straight victory.

Darnell Nurse and Jean Dupuy scored in regulation for Sault Ste. Marie (15-2-2).

Brandon Devlin forced overtime with a goal at 19:58 of the third period for Peterborough (8-9-2) while Nick Ritchie had a goal and an assist.

Matt Murray made 32 saves for the Greyhounds. Andrew D'Agostini allowed two goals on 34 shots for the Petes.



BARRIE, Ont. ??? Daniel Gibl stopped 31-of-32 shots as the Colts beat North Bay for their fourth win in as many outings.

Andreas Athanasiou, Justin Scott and Dylan Corson supplied the offence for Barrie (10-8-1).

Nick Paul scored the lone goal for the Battalion (9-11-1), who are winless in four games.

Jake Smith made 19 saves for North Bay.
