SAGINAW, Mich. - Zack Bowman stopped all 24 shots his way as the Flint Firebirds opened the 2015-16 Ontario Hockey League season on Thursday with a 3-0 win over the host Saginaw Spirit.
Ryan Moore, Nicholas Caamano and Will Bitten supplied the offence for the Firebirds (1-0-0), who were making their league debut after being known as the Plymouth Whalers from 1997 until last season.
The Whalers were sold to new owners and relocated to Flint this past summer.
Evan Cormier turned away 27-of-30 shots for the Spirit (0-1-0).
The Firebirds went 1 for 3 on the power play while Saginaw failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. ? Matthew Mancina made 32 saves and Steven Lorentz had a goal and an assist as the Petes toppled Ottawa.
Eddie Schulz, Greg Betzold, Jonathan Ang and Matt Spencer also scored for Peterborough (1-0-0).
Travis Konecny had a pair of goals for the 67's (0-1-0) while Adam Craievich and Noel Hoefenmayer added a goal apiece. Liam Herbst stopped 18-of-22 shots.

WINDSOR, Ont. ??? Darren Raddysh scored 2:13 into the extra period and Devin Williams made 28 saves as Erie slipped past the Spitfires.
Taylor Raddysh, Kyle Pettit and Kyle Maksimovich also found the back of the net for the Otters (1-0-0).
Bradley Latour scored once for Windsor (0-0-1) and assisted on goals from Christian Fischer and Anthony Stefano for a three-point night. Michael Giugovaz kicked out 26-of-30 shots in defeat.
