OHL Roundup: DiFruscia, IceDogs down Steelheads 5-2

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Anthony DiFruscia scored twice and set up one more as the Niagara IceDogs picked up their fourth straight win by defeating the visiting Mississauga Steelheads 5-2 on Thursday in Ontario Hockey League play.

Graham Knott had a goal and two assists for the IceDogs (25-23-4) while Jordan Maletta and BIlly Jenkins each added a goal and a helper.

Josh Burnside scored once for the Steelheads (22-28-3) and assisted on another goal from Brandon Devlin.

Niagara's Brandon Hope made 23 saves for the win as Jacob Brennan turned away 41-of-45 shots for Mississauga.

The IceDogs went 1 for 5 on the power play while the Steelheads failed to score on their only chance with the man advantage.

BATTALION 4 KNIGHTS 2

NORTH BAY, Ont. ? Ryan Kujawinksi had a goal and an assist and Jake Smith made 20 saves as the Battalion handed London its sixth straight loss.

Alex Henriksson, Brenden Miller and Hampus Olsson also scored for North Bay (27-13-11) and Nick Moutrey tacked on two assists.

Josh Sterk supplied the offence for the Knights (30-20-3), who got a 27-save outing from Michael Giugovaz.

GENERALS 5 PETES 2

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. ??? Tobias Lindberg had a pair of goals and Ken Appleby turned away 23 shots as Oshawa toppled the Petes.

Matt Mistele, Hunter Smith and Dakota Mermis also scored for the league-best Generals (41-7-4), who are 10-0-2 in their past 12 outings.

Hunter Garlent struck twice for Peterborough (20-26-5) while Dylan Wells kicked out 31-of-35 shots in defeat.

SPITFIRES 4 RANGERS 1

WINDSOR, Ont. ??? Cristiano DiGiacinto's goal at 9:22 of the first period stood up as the winner as the Spitfires snapped a three-game skid by downing Kitchener.

Markus Soberg, Logan Brown and Anthony Stefano also scored for Windsor (22-28-2). Alex Fotinos made 18 saves for the win.

Dmitrii Sergeev scored for the Rangers (25-17-9) as Jake Paterson stopped 37-of-41 shots in a losing cause.
