OHL Roundup: Brodeur earns shutout, Manchurek scores twice as Generals blank Wolves @NHLdotcom

OSHAWA, Ont. - Jeremy Brodeur earned his fifth shutout of the season and Joe Manchurek struck twice in the first period as the as the Oshawa Generals blanked the visiting Sudbury Wolves 7-0 on Sunday in Ontario Hockey League play.

Brodeur stopped 27 shots and Oshawa built up a four-goal lead after just a period of action.

Mitchell Vande Sompel scored once and set up two more for the Generals (13-17-5), who also got goals from Anthony Cirelli, Jack Studnicka, Michael Dal Colle and Sam Harding.

Riley Stillman, Stephen Templeton and Lukas Lofquist each chipped in with two assists while Manchurek tacked on a helper for a three-point outing.

Troy Timpano started in net for the Wolves (8-24-3) and allowed four goals on 13 shots. Zack Bowman came for the second period and kicked out 25-of-28 shots in relief.

Oshawa went 1 for 5 on the power play while Sudbury failed to score on two chances with the man advantage.

Wolves defenceman Reagan O'Grady was handed a match penalty for slew footing 1:17 into the second. Meanwhile, Generals blue liner Jalen Smereck picked up a misconduct for abuse of the official at 18:37 of the third.
