OHL Roundup: A look at Wednesday's games @NHLdotcom

The Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds are going to need some help if they hope to make the Ontario Hockey League playoffs.

Alex Aleardi scored three goals as the Plymouth Whalers beat the Greyhounds 5-3 Wednesday.

Sault Ste. Marie trails the Guelph Storm by four points with two games remaining in the regular season.

Elsewhere in the OHL it was: Belleville 3 Oshawa 2 (OT); Guelph 5 Erie 3; and Saginaw 7 Sarnia 1.

At Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Mitchell Heard and Jamie Devane also scored for the Whalers in the win, while Rickard Rakell added a pair of assists.

Mark Petaccio had a pair of goals for the Greyhounds in the loss. Ryan Sproul also scored.

Goaltender Scott Wedgewood stopped 27 shots for the Whalers (48-16-3).

Goaltender Jack Campbell stopped 16 of 21 shots before being pulled after the Whalers fifth goal. Matt Murray stopped all eight shots he faced the rest of the way for the Greyhounds (37-33-6).

Bulls 3 Generals 2 (OT)

At Belleville, Ont., Jake Worrad scored in overtime as the Bulls (33-32-1) beat Oshawa (31-28-7).


Storm 5 Otters 3

At Guelph, Ont., Francis Menard and Richard Tanner each scored twice as the Storm (29-31-6) beat Erie (10-50-6).


Spirit 7 Sting 1

At Sarnia, Ont., Josh Shalla scored three goals to lead Saginaw (31-27-8 ) to a rout of the Sting (33-26-7).
